Telavi Marani Saperavi is an excellent Georgian wine that reflects the rich winemaking tradition of the Kakheti region. This region, located in the eastern part of Georgia, is known for its ideal climate for viticulture. The temperate continental climate in Kakheti provides the perfect conditions for grape growing, which is evident in the Telavi Marani Saperavi. The Telavi Marani Saperavi is made from 100% Saperavi grapes, one of the most prestigious and characteristic grape varieties in Georgia. The Saperavi grape is known for its deep color, rich aromas, and complex flavor profile. The grapes for this wine are hand-picked at the moment they reach optimal ripeness, ensuring an intense and balanced flavor profile. After manual harvesting, the Telavi Marani Saperavi undergoes a careful vinification process. The grapes are gently destemmed and crushed, and fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature between 23-28°C. This ensures that the flavors are well preserved. During fermentation, techniques such as délestage and remontage are used to optimize the extraction of color and body from the wine. After a maceration period of 8-10 days, the wine is transferred and clarified, after which malolactic fermentation begins. The Telavi Marani Saperavi mainly ages in stainless steel tanks, but a small percentage is aged for 3-4 months in French oak barrels. This short aging in oak barrels adds extra complexity and a subtle oak flavor to the wine. This wine has an alcohol content of 13.5%, which contributes to its full, rich taste, making it a beloved wine.

The Telavi Marani Saperavi has a beautiful, deep red color with a purple hue, reflecting the intensity of the grape. The aroma is rich in forest fruits and cherries, giving the wine a fruity and inviting scent. On tasting, the same fruitiness emerges, with a hint of spiciness that adds an extra dimension. The wine has a well-balanced flavor and finishes with a firm, long aftertaste. This beauty is a versatile wine that pairs well with various dishes. The full, fruity, and spicy flavors make it the ideal companion for grilled meats, such as steak or lamb, as well as rich dishes with red sauces. It also pairs excellently with aged cheeses, such as mature cheddar or goat cheese. It is recommended to serve the wine at a temperature of 16-18°C for the best tasting experience.

Telavi Marani was founded in 1915 and quickly underwent a significant change: just two years later, the Russian Revolution broke out, resulting in the nationalization of the company. It wasn’t until the end of the twentieth century that Telavi Marani came back into private hands, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the rich history of the winery.
Today, the wine production at Telavi Marani heavily relies on the expertise of French wine consultants and oenologists, who are closely involved in every aspect of the process. From grafting the vines to the careful bottling of the wines, each step is meticulously controlled. Telavi Marani's philosophy is deeply rooted in the local winemaking tradition, with a strong focus on using indigenous grape varieties that reflect the unique terroir of the region.
The wines of Telavi Marani have found their way to markets in Russia, Europe, New Zealand, and the United States, winning over a hundred gold and silver medals at international competitions worldwide. This not only highlights the quality and craftsmanship of the winery but also the popularity of their products. With a surprisingly modern appearance, the wines perfectly align with the refined tastes of Western Europe and are appreciated both locally and internationally.
