The story of Vaziani began in 1982 when the winery was founded as an offshoot of the famous Telavi Winery No. 1. Vaziani symbolizes the continuation of Georgia's ancient winemaking traditions. In a time after the Soviet era, when the wine industry faced challenges, the idea emerged to create a new company initially known as the "souvenir production factory." The main goal of this company was to uphold the reputation of renowned Georgian wine brands, in contrast to the low-quality wines produced since the 1970s. They decided to bottle the finest Georgian wines of the highest quality in beautiful gift packaging. This was a bold experiment, and the positive results can be proudly celebrated today. Vaziani looks back with satisfaction on this special chapter in their history. The traditional Qvevri method, a technique that dates back 8,000 years, is still proudly maintained. Vaziani Winery takes pride in contributing to the preservation of this rich cultural and historical heritage. Makashvili Wine Cellar, owned by Vaziani, originates from the Makashvili estate, dating back to the second half of the 15th century. In the winery's cellars, Qvevri vessels older than 120 years can be found. These were discovered during the renovation of the winery in 2012, buried beneath the grounds of Vaziani Winery. Of the approximately 200 Qvevri vessels found, only 39 could be preserved in pristine condition. The wines are produced with the utmost care following the traditional Qvevri winemaking method in these ancient Qvevri vessels. They are produced in limited quantities and have gained global recognition.
