St. Andrea Napbor Cuvee 2019
The St. Andrea Napbor Cuvee is a refined, dry biodynamic white wine from the famous Eger region in northern Hungary. Eger is internationally renowned for its rich wine traditions, especially the iconic red wine "Bull's Blood," but this white wine also deserves its place in the spotlight. The Napbor Cuvee is the result of a carefully crafted blend of some of the most prestigious grape varieties. The winemakers selected the best grapes from Hungarian vineyards, including Olaszrizling, Hárslevelű, Leányka, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Blanc, and Chardonnay. After harvest, the grapes are carefully processed and undergo an aging process in wooden barrels, which imparts additional depth and complexity to the wine. The use of wood provides a refined texture and enhances the wine's longevity, while the subtle flavors of the wood amplify the fruity character of the wine. With an alcohol content of 13%, the St. Andrea Napbor Cuvee offers a perfect balance between fresh acidity and the rich character of the wine. This biodynamic white wine is not only a tribute to the wine traditions of Eger but also a modern, elegant choice for those who love white wine.
The St. Andrea Napbor Cuvee has an elegant straw-yellow color that highlights the refined character of the wine. It is a lively wine that immediately evokes thoughts of sunshine and warmth. The aroma is an enticing blend of tropical fruits such as pineapple, peach, pear, and mango, subtly woven together with a hint of biscuit. With the first sip, the flavors of pineapple, pear, and peach emerge beautifully, complemented by a refined note of roasted hazelnut that elegantly blends in. The balance between the fresh fruitiness and the creamy, roasted nuances creates a layered tasting experience. The finish is medium in length, leaving a refined impression after each sip. The combination of fruity freshness and roasted tones lingers pleasantly on the palate. This versatile wine pairs wonderfully with various dishes. It is excellent with grilled chicken, where the refined flavors complement the subtle character of the meat. Lobster or baked sole also make a delightful match, with the wine's fresh fruit notes beautifully enhancing the delicate flavors of the seafood. For the best tasting experience, it is recommended to serve the wine between 8-10°C, allowing the subtle aromas and flavors to fully express themselves.
The Eger wine region is located in the northeastern part of Hungary, at the foot of the Bükk Mountains. This area offers an excellent terroir for both red and white wines, with unique opportunities for viticulture. The cool climate of the region is clearly reflected in the wines of St. Andrea, which are characterized by rich aromas, lively acidity, subtle elegance, and a well-balanced tannin structure. The soil is varied and complex, with a foundation primarily consisting of rhyolite tuffstone of volcanic origin, complemented by limestone, zeolite, sandstone, marl, clay, and slate. This soil imparts a powerful character to the wines. In addition to international grape varieties such as Merlot, Pinot Noir, and Syrah, the Eger wine region also grows indigenous varieties such as Kékfrankos, Blauburger, Turan, and Menoir. For white wines, the most common grape varieties are Olaszrizling, Chardonnay, Királyleányka, and Hárslevelű.
