Família Margaça Reserva Branco 2020
The Família Margaça Reserva Branco is a special white wine from the sun-drenched region of Alentejo in southern Portugal. This wine is made from the Antão Vaz grape, one of the most iconic and valued varieties of this area. The Antão Vaz is a late-ripening grape that thrives perfectly in the hot, dry conditions of the region. Thanks to the high yield of the grape, it can produce wines with a rich flavor and excellent aging potential, which is why it is so beloved in southern Portugal. With an alcohol content of 13%, the wine offers a beautiful balance between a fresh, lively taste and a full texture. The wine has aged for six months in French oak barrels, adding subtle oak tones without overpowering the delicate fruitiness of the Antão Vaz grape. This aging process adds an extra layer of complexity, allowing the flavors to unfold elegantly, making the wine perfectly suited for lovers of well-aged, detailed wines. The Família Margaça Reserva Branco is an excellent choice for those wanting to discover the refined characteristics of Portuguese wines.
Família Margaça Reserva Branco has a beautiful yellow color with golden nuances. The aroma is pure, intense, and enveloping. It is true to the typical aromatic profile of the chosen grape variety, with prominent scents of tropical fruit and citrus. Papaya and mandarin stand out in particular, followed by subtle hints of vanilla and white pepper. On the palate, the wine is rich and creamy, with a beautiful balance of acidity that highlights the warm alcohol, typical of wines from a sunny climate. The finish is long and silky, with a very pleasant aftertaste. This wine pairs excellently with poultry in a honey and herb marinade, pasta with light white sauces, or rich fish and octopus dishes. Serve the wine between 10 and 11ºC for the best experience.
The country came to know the name Pias and began marking it on the map, leading to a phenomenon that continues to this day. More than forty years later, history repeats itself, but this time through the industrial disappearance of the Pias brand, which was taken over and absorbed by the market. This resulted in the creation of hundreds of brands under the same name, often with no connection to the region or, in some cases, the country itself. Without opposition from the responsible authorities, Pias lost its identity and became a brand without a territory. In 2020, the Margaça family took action and developed a new strategy, reaffirming the authentic origin of its wines: the true wines of Pias. A new brand, Família Margaça, was launched, honoring both the family and the people of the village. At the same time, a fresh positioning and image were introduced to the market, with the mission of bringing Pias back to what it has always been and is meant to be: Pias.
