Dom Vicente Reserve Encruzado “Unoaked” is a refined Portuguese white wine from the Dão region, made from the Encruzado grape, with an alcohol content of 13%. Like other Portuguese wines, this one is produced with great care and dedication. The grapes are hand-harvested and transported to the winery in small boxes. They are then fully de-stemmed, cooled, crushed, and gently pressed. The must is first decanted in stainless steel tanks at a low temperature and then transferred to other tanks, where fermentation takes place under controlled conditions of around 15°C, until all sugars have been converted. After alcoholic fermentation, the wine is sulfured and after a few days, transferred to another stainless steel tank. Here, it ages for several months on fine lees, with light "batonnage" to develop extra complexity and structure. During bottling, the wine undergoes minimal filtration with minerals and a final filtration just before filling, ensuring its full aromatic potential is preserved.

Dom Vicente Reserve Encruzado “Unoaked” has a citrus yellow color in the glass, a wine with a fresh and youthful taste, featuring aromas of fruit and some flowers. On the palate, it is mineral and fresh, with volume and structure. It conveys the characteristics and minerality of the Encruzado grape well, with excellent aromas, freshness, and good natural acidity. This wine pairs perfectly with seafood, all fish dishes, or even lighter meat dishes and cheeses. Please serve at 10ºC.

What makes Portuguese wines so special is the combination of the classic and the modern. The classic aspect lies in the use of unique grape varieties, often with exotic-sounding names. All together, there are hundreds of these, most of which are only planted in Portugal. In the Douro Valley alone – the Port wine region – there are dozens of officially permitted varieties! Unlike their counterparts in most other wine regions, most Portuguese wine producers have, to date, steered clear of fashionable varieties like Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. The adherence to native grapes, once considered a sign of backwardness, now proves to be a strong asset! Portugal has always followed its own path throughout history, and it continues to do so. The same applies to viticulture. Portuguese wines therefore exhibit an intriguing individuality. Anyone who tastes them immediately says, "typical Portuguese." They are wines with an unmistakable individual character, perfect for adventurous wine drinkers.
