Gašper Palamida is an exceptional Slovenian red wine, ideal for the wine enthusiast seeking refinement, complexity, and a smooth taste. This wine comes from the prestigious wine region of Goriška Brda in western Slovenia, an area globally appreciated for its top-quality wines. The unique climate, influenced by both the warm sea breeze and the cool air from the Alps, provides the perfect conditions to create wines with depth and rich flavor development. This wine is a blend of three classic grape varieties: 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, and 20% Cabernet Franc. Each variety is carefully selected to achieve the ideal balance between strength and elegance. The grapes are hand-harvested, ensuring the quality of the wine. After harvest, the wine undergoes a controlled fermentation process for five days at a temperature of 24-26°C, allowing for perfect harmony between aroma and flavor. The wine is aged in large 600-liter barrels, giving it the time to develop its full complexity. This method contributes to the subtle wood aromas and the silky texture that give Gašper Palamida its elegant character. With an alcohol content of 13%, the wine is medium-bodied and offers a well-balanced tasting experience where the different aromas blend together perfectly.
With its deep ruby red color, Gašper Palamida immediately captures attention. As the wine flows into the glass, it reveals its intense and rich character. The aroma is complex and enticing, with subtle hints of dark berries, spices, and a light peppery note from the Cabernet Franc. On the palate, the wine delivers the firm power of Cabernet Sauvignon, with a robust structure and a long finish that gradually unfolds. At the same time, the Merlot provides a silky smoothness that gives the wine an elegant and refined finish. For the best experience, we recommend serving the wine between 16°C and 18°C. At this temperature, the full bouquet of aromas is revealed, and the flavors can develop optimally. From a young age, Gašper Čarman has been deeply intertwined with the world of wine and gastronomy. Raised in the family business, the restaurant and wine shop Danilo – gostilna & vinoteka in Reteče, he developed a natural passion for everything related to wine. However, his journey in the wine world truly began in 2004 when he decided to venture into wine sales as an independent entrepreneur. What started as a small project from his garage quickly grew into a successful online wine shop and a thriving distribution business for both private and corporate clients.
With his impressive knowledge and experience, Gašper was awarded the title of Best Sommelier of Slovenia in 2013, and repeated this success in 2015. He also completed the prestigious WSET Level 4 diploma and is currently pursuing the advanced Master of Wine program. For Gašper, learning never stops; after 14 years in the wine industry, he continues to seek new discoveries and insights.
In 2013, Gašper founded his own wine brand: Gasper Wines. The philosophy behind this brand is simple yet powerful: wine is about the experience in the glass. It's not just about the story behind the wine, but the impression a wine leaves with the first sip. This approach formed the foundation for the creation of Gasper Wines. Together with Klet Goriška Brda, one of the largest wine cooperatives in Slovenia, Gašper crafted wines that reflect the unique characteristics of the Goriška Brda terroir. Thanks to this collaboration, Gasper Wines has found its way to an ever-growing audience, both in Slovenia and globally.
