Château Musar Gaston Hochar Blanc is a unique Lebanese white wine crafted in the renowned Bekaa valley. The wine has a French character, despite the use of local, distinctive grape varieties like Obaideh (the local variant of Chardonnay) and Merwah, a grape that is somewhat reminiscent of Sémillon. It particularly reminds one of a mature white Graves, with its dry, rich, almost honey-like character. The grapes are harvested from bush vines, with yields of no more than 10 to 20 hectoliters per hectare. The vineyards are located at high altitudes, up to 1400 meters, on the slopes of Mount Lebanon. The white wine undergoes aging in oak barrels from the Nevers region for nine months. It is then kept in bottles for a remarkable seven years before being released to the market. This makes it a special white wine with an alcohol content of 12% and a unique, beautifully matured character.

The wine has a golden hue in the glass and is wonderfully ripe and developed on the palate, with a delightful honeyed richness, mango, nuts, and an exotic intensity, finishing with a bitter note. This beauty pairs perfectly with fish dishes or pasta dishes with aromatic mushrooms. Drink this Lebanese white wine at a temperature of 15°C.

Château Musar is one of the most iconic wineries in Asia, renowned for its exceptional ability to produce wines that age remarkably well. What makes this winery even more remarkable is its resilience in crafting high-quality wines during the 15 years of Lebanon’s civil war, which lasted until 1992. The vineyards are situated in the Bekaa Valley, which is more accurately described as a plateau. Despite its lower altitude, with some areas reaching up to 1000 meters, the valley's elevation helps mitigate the intensity of the heat, making it an ideal location for viticulture.

The winery was founded in 1930 by Gaston Hochar, whose ancestors arrived from France in the 12th century, and it is now run by his grandsons. However, it was Gaston’s son, Serge, who made the winery famous and defended the wines of Lebanon during the turbulent years of the 1970s, until his death in 2014.
