Chateau Kefraya Les Bretèches Red is a delightful Lebanese wine coming from West Bekaa Valley subregion. Cinsault grape, which is one of the main ingredients of this wine, has been grown in the Bekaa Valley for over 100 years. In addition to the Cinsault grape, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Tempranillo, Carignan, and Garnacha (Grenache) are used to produce Les Bretèches. After the berries are destemmed, they are crushed and transferred to tanks. Alcoholic fermentation and maceration occur in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks for 1 to 3 weeks, with temperatures maintained between 23 and 26 degrees, depending on the grape variety. Malolactic fermentation takes place in concrete tanks. The wine is then matured in tanks for 10 months, followed by bottle aging for 1 year. No wood shavings are used during the process. The wine boasts 14% abv. Each new version of Les Bretèches comes with a unique label, designed by a young, talented Lebanese designer. So, you may encounter the same wine with a different label.

Chateau Kefraya’s vineyards are nestled on the slopes of the Bekaa Valley, located 1000 meters above sea level. The soil here is a blend of gravel, chalk, sand, and clay-limestone, providing the ideal foundation for grape growing. With no irrigation, the vines thrive in sun-drenched vineyards, and the significant day-to-night temperature fluctuations contribute to the perfect ripening of the grapes.

Chateau Kefraya blends a variety of grape types, including Muscat à Petits Grains, Marselan, Carménère, Chardonnay, Viognier, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The winery also cultivates native Lebanese grape varieties like Obeidi, Merwah, and Mekssessé (white grapes), and revitalizes ancient red grapes such as Asmi Noir and Assouad Karech.
A significant portion of the vineyard is certified organic, and all Chateau Kefraya wines are vegan. The winery follows a sustainable viticulture approach, allowing the vines to flourish while honoring the expression of the terroir.
