In 1982, Compania Vaziani was established as a leading winery in the Telavi region, Kakheti, Georgia. At that time, it was one of the most modern wineries in the area. After Georgia's independence in 1991, the Georgian wine industry embarked on a journey filled with challenges. This journey was marked by the preservation of the traditional qvevri winemaking method, which is over 8,600 years old, alongside the integration of modern European techniques that had been used in Georgia since 1812. In 2012, Vaziani Winery gave a modern boost to its European production line by installing advanced Italian equipment for pressing and fermentation control. This upgrade included high-quality stainless steel tanks. During this modernization, 39 qvevri amphorae, over 120 years old and dating back to the era of the Makashvili Kingdom, were also restored. Vaziani’s 120 hectares of vineyards are located in the renowned Kindzmarauli microzone. Here, mainly native grape varieties are grown, but in recent years, some foreign grape varieties have also been introduced. The talented winemakers at this winery have made the most of the extraordinary characteristics of the Kindzmarauli microzone. They produce both traditional qvevri wines and internationally acclaimed wines using modern European techniques. The quality wines of Vaziani are based on careful grape selection, hand harvesting with strict quality control, and innovative winemaking methods.
