The Medea Teran is an award-winning gastronomic red wine from the Croatian wine region of Istria, produced from the Teran grape variety. The grapes are carefully hand-picked in September. Vinification takes place in stainless steel fermentation tanks under precisely controlled conditions, with fermentation and maceration occurring over seven days at temperatures ranging from 20 to 22°C. After fermentation, the wine undergoes four months of aging on the lees (sur lie method) in stainless steel tanks, followed by one month of bottle aging to ensure optimal development. This wine has an alcohol content of 13%.    

Medea Teran stands out with its beautiful purple-red color and an enticing bouquet of raspberries, blueberries, and currants, complemented by subtle hints of pepper, bay leaf, and licorice. The wine exhibits a remarkably fruity character and freshness, supported by refined acidity and silky tannins, resulting in an exceptionally enjoyable drinking experience. Medea Teran is a versatile wine that pairs excellently with a variety of dishes, such as rich dishes, game dishes, red meat, truffle pasta, cured hams, and a selection of cheeses. For optimal flavor development, it is recommended to serve this high-quality wine slightly chilled, between 16-18°C.

Medea originated from the Agroprodukt Vodnjan cooperative, and the winery is located in the Croatian village of Vodnjan. The Floricić family took over the company from the government and transformed it into a successful winery. Today, Medea is one of the largest wine producers in Istria. Excellent grape varieties thrive here, thanks to the region’s rich red soil. The most important grape variety for white wine production in this area is Istarska Malvazija. For red wines, Merlot, Teran (known as Refosco in the Italian Friuli region), and Cabernet Sauvignon are cultivated.
