Koncho Saperavi 2021
The Koncho Saperavi stands out with a deep pomegranate-red color, a visual prelude to its rich and layered flavor. Upon tasting, the wine reveals a refined bouquet of ripe cherries and juicy French plums, harmoniously intertwined with subtle notes of oak. The carefully controlled aging process contributes to an elegant structure and a lingering, refined finish. Thanks to its versatility, this wine pairs excellently with various meat dishes, such as grilled lamb, tender steak, or slow-braised beef. Additionally, Koncho Saperavi pairs beautifully with cheese, especially firm and aged varieties like aged Gouda or Belegen cheese. The deep flavors of the wine enhance the dishes, making every meal a culinary experience in itself. To fully enjoy the complex aromas and nuances of Koncho Saperavi, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature of 18-20°C. This allows the rich flavor layers to fully unfold, offering the full expression of this exceptional Georgian wine.
Koncho and Company LLC was founded on September 18, 2001, by JSC Corporation Kindzmarauli, building upon a centuries-old winemaking tradition. The company focuses on producing and marketing wines of exceptional quality. The name "Koncho" originates from Old Georgian and means "cross"—a reference to the family name Konchoshvili, which has been closely linked to winemaking since 1737. This tradition traces back to Kakhaber Konchoshvili, the royal winemaker of King Teimuraz II of Kakheti. In that year, he established a wine cellar specializing in traditional Kakhetian wines and chacha, the renowned Georgian brandy. For generations, the family remained active in wine production, first in the village of Sabue and later in Kvareli, until the winery was closed toward the end of the 20th century. With the founding of Koncho and Company LLC, this rich heritage was revived with the mission of preserving the authentic Georgian wine culture and presenting top-quality wines to an international audience. The company owns some of the finest vineyards in the historic microzones of Kindzmarauli and Kvareli. These vineyards are located on former riverbeds of the Duruji, where the soil is enriched with black slate and has a high concentration of carbonates at a depth of 8-10 meters. This unique terroir gives the wines of Koncho and Company a distinctive character and an unparalleled taste experience.
