Dakishvili Family Selection Saperavi is a characterful red wine from Georgia, originating from the village of Zhaluri, located in the renowned wine region of Akhmeta, Kakheti. This area is considered the birthplace of winemaking and has an ancient tradition of artisanal production. Behind this exceptional wine is the famous Dakishvili family, who have been creating quality wines with dedication and craftsmanship since 1930. The wine is made from the unique Saperavi grape, a rare Georgian variety known as a teinturier. This means that both the pulp and the skin are deeply red, resulting in an intensely concentrated wine with a deep color and complex structure. The production follows the traditional Kakheti method, where the grapes ferment for six months in a Qvevri, a large earthenware amphora buried in the ground. This natural process occurs without the addition of yeast, preserving the wine's pure and authentic character. Additionally, it is bottled unfiltered to retain its rich aromas and texture. With an alcohol content of around 13.5%, this wine offers a deep and layered tasting experience. Curious about this unique Georgian specialty?
